Airports for Moraira

Moraira has no airport of its own and, unusually among the places we cover, no coach connection either. Alicante-Elche is the airport, 94 km and about 70 minutes away by road. Valencia is the alternative at roughly 130 km, half an hour further. The practical consequence of the missing coach is that arriving in Moraira means a road transfer whichever airport you choose, so the transfer belongs in your budget from the start rather than as an afterthought.

Why there is no coach, and why Teulada is not one

Aena publishes the coach services that call at Alicante-Elche, and none of them serves Moraira. The list does include an ALSA line to Javea that stops at Teulada, and because Moraira is administratively part of Teulada that stop can look like the answer. It is not. Teulada town sits inland and both routing engines put it 6.5 km from the village, which is a separate journey to arrange after a flight, with luggage, at whatever hour you land. Moraira is a small coastal village of a few thousand people rather than a resort town with a bus station, and its transport reflects that.

94 km, and the last part is not motorway

The road from the airport runs on the A-70 and the AP-7 for most of the distance, then the N-332, before turning off onto the CV-740, CV-743 and CV-7440 for the descent to the coast. Those last kilometres are local road through the hills behind the Marina Alta, which is why the free-flowing time of about 70 minutes is longer than the distance alone suggests, and why it is more sensitive to a wet evening or a caravan in front than the motorway stretch is.

A taxi from the rank is not negotiated: Moraira falls under the Generalitat's interurban tariff like everywhere else on this site, so the fare is capped between about 131 and 153 EUR for the vehicle, the higher figure applying at night, on Sundays and on holidays. That is the number to judge everything else against. A private transfer booked in advance can undercut it at this distance, since it is quoted for the journey rather than by the kilometre.
