Airport transfer
Facts checked Aug 19, 2026Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport (ALC)
Denia
Denia is 104 km from Alicante-Elche airport, about 75 minutes of free-flowing driving, almost all of it on the A-70 and AP-7 before the motorway is left at Ondara. That distance changes the arithmetic that governs the shorter routes on this site. A taxi from the rank is regulated rather than negotiated, and over 104 km the official ceiling works out between 144 and 168 EUR for the vehicle, which is high enough that a transfer booked in advance often costs less rather than more. There is an ALSA coach, but it is a stopping service and we have not been able to verify its fare or its times.

Runs to a fixed timetable, not on demand
A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Generalitat Valenciana, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

Denia is far enough from the airport that the usual ranking on this site does not hold. On a short route the coach is cheapest, the taxi rank is the cheap way to your door and a private transfer is the premium. Here the regulated taxi tariff runs to between 144 and 168 EUR for the vehicle, because it charges by the kilometre across all 104 of them, and a transfer quoted for the journey as a whole often comes in under that ceiling. So the honest advice is to check the transfer price first and treat the taxi as the fallback that needs no booking, rather than the other way round. The coach would be the cheap option if we could describe it, and we cannot: Aena confirms ALSA runs it and where it stops, but the fare and the timetable sit behind a booking engine we cannot read, and a stopping service over 104 km is not something to gamble on. One more thing worth saying plainly, because it affects the whole journey rather than the last leg: Valencia airport is about 115 km from Denia against Alicante's 104, so on this route the choice of airport is genuinely open.
Private transfer
A vehicle booked for the size of your party, a driver waiting in arrivals and a price agreed before you fly. Over 104 km that is usually the sensible way to travel with cases and children, and on this route it is not automatically the dearest one.
Private transfer
The regulated taxi ceiling of 144 to 168 EUR is what makes this route different. A transfer quoted for the whole journey often lands under it, so check the current price before defaulting to the rank.
Taxi
The rank needs no booking and no advance planning. On this route you pay for that in cash rather than in time, because the regulated fare rises with every kilometre of the 104.
Taxi
A taxi needs no timetable and no advance booking. Expect the higher night, Sunday and holiday tariff, which begins at 21:00 and adds more than twenty euros over this distance.
Not verified: We have not verified the coach's first and last departures, so we cannot tell you whether it is still running when you land. Do not plan a late arrival around it without checking with ALSA.

On most airport routes a private transfer is the expensive convenience and the taxi rank is the cheaper door to door option. At 104 km that reverses. The regulated taxi tariff keeps charging by the kilometre all the way to Denia, while a transfer is quoted for the journey as a whole, so the booked price is frequently below the taxi ceiling rather than above it. You are also buying certainty on a route where the alternative is a stopping coach with an unpublished timetable: a driver waiting in arrivals, a vehicle sized for the party, and a price agreed before you fly. We do not print the price here, because provider prices move and a figure fixed into this page would go stale.

The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking, which is worth something when a flight lands late or plans change. Fares follow the Generalitat's official interurban tariff rather than a meter, with a fixed airport supplement on top, and the published rates are maximums. Over this distance those maximums are substantial: 144 EUR on the ordinary daytime tariff and up to 168 EUR on the night, Sunday and holiday rate. Treat the figures as the ceiling the driver may charge rather than a quote, and compare them against a booked transfer before assuming the rank is the cheaper way to your door.

Aena lists an ALSA coach connection from the airport to Denia, boarding at the bus stop on the departures roadway, and names its intermediate stops: Alicante, Alicante train station, Gata de Gorgos and Pedreguer. So the service exists, and it is a stopping service rather than a direct run. What we do not have is the fare, the first and last departures, the frequency or the journey time. ALSA's own booking engine sits behind a queue system that blocks access, and we found no other primary source publishing this line's timetable. On a 104 km journey with four intermediate stops the difference between a coach that runs hourly and one that runs three times a day is the difference between a usable option and a wasted afternoon, so confirm with ALSA before planning around it.
About 104 km by road. Two independent routing engines agree to within 500 metres, and both take the same corridor: the N-338 out of the airport, then the A-70 and the AP-7, leaving the motorway at Ondara for the CV-725 into the town.
About 70 to 80 minutes in free-flowing traffic; all four measurements fell between 72 and 76 minutes. That excludes traffic, so treat it as a floor rather than a typical door to door time.
Between about 144 and 168 EUR for the vehicle, not per person. The lower figure is the ordinary daytime tariff and the higher one the night, Sunday and holiday tariff, and both include the 4.25 EUR airport supplement. These are the regulated maximums for the distance rather than a quote, and a booked private transfer will often come in under them.
Often, which is the reverse of the shorter routes. A regulated taxi charges by the kilometre over the full 104 km, while a transfer is quoted for the journey. Check the current transfer price against the taxi range above before choosing.
Yes. Aena lists an ALSA coach that boards at the departures roadway and calls at Alicante, Alicante train station, Gata de Gorgos and Pedreguer. We have not verified its fare, its departure times or its frequency, so check those with ALSA before relying on it.
Denia is the one destination we cover where this is a real question. It is 104 km from Alicante and about 115 km from Valencia, so the distances are close and the choice can reasonably be made on flight price and schedule. We cover transfers from Alicante only, so price the Valencia transfer yourself before deciding.
