Airport transfer
Facts checked Aug 19, 2026Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport (ALC)
Calpe
Calpe has no airport of its own, so almost every visitor arrives at Alicante-Elche and covers the last 76 km by road. Nearly all of that is motorway, on the A-70 and then the AP-7, which is why the drive takes about an hour despite being half as far again as the run to Benidorm. A taxi from the rank works to the Generalitat's official interurban tariff, which puts this journey between 108 and 126 EUR for the vehicle. There is also an ALSA coach from the airport, but it is not the non-stop service that Benidorm gets, and we have not been able to verify its fare or its timetable from a source we would stand behind.

Runs to a fixed timetable, not on demand
A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Generalitat Valenciana, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

This route has one price we can show you and one we cannot, and that shapes the honest answer. The taxi is regulated, so 108 to 126 EUR for the vehicle is not a guess: it is what the Generalitat's interurban tariff allows over 76 km, with the higher figure applying at night, on Sundays and on holidays. A private transfer is bookable and quoted for the journey as a whole, so at this distance it is worth pricing against that range rather than assuming it costs more. The coach is the option that would change the arithmetic, and it is exactly the one we cannot describe: Aena confirms ALSA runs it and where it stops, but its fare and timetable are behind a booking engine we cannot read, so we will not print numbers for it. If cost is what decides your journey, ask ALSA directly rather than assuming this coach works the way Benidorm's does, because this one stops four times on the way and Benidorm's does not stop at all.
Taxi
The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking, so there is nothing to arrange before you fly. Fares follow the official regulated tariff rather than a meter, with a fixed airport supplement on top, and the journey is about an hour on motorway.
Private transfer
At 76 km the door to door options earn their price. A transfer is booked before you fly, met in arrivals and quoted for the whole journey, which at this distance often lands under the regulated taxi ceiling rather than over it.
Not verified: The supplier does not name Calpe in its drop-off details, only in the product title, and it carries no reviews yet. Read what it covers before you book.
Taxi
A taxi does not depend on a timetable and needs no advance booking. Expect the higher night, Sunday and holiday tariff, which begins at 21:00 and adds close to twenty euros over this distance.
Not verified: We have not verified the coach's first and last departures, so we cannot tell you whether it is still running when you land. Do not plan a late arrival around it without checking with ALSA.

A private transfer is booked before you travel, and the driver meets you in arrivals and takes you to your address. There is one for this route and it is linked above. It collects at this airport, which Viator records directly, but the supplier describes its drop-off only as hotels and addresses in the town centre rather than naming Calpe, so the destination comes from the product title, and it carries no reviews yet. We rejected the other product sold for this route outright: its drop-off is given as Alicante Airport, which is where the journey starts. At 76 km a transfer quoted for the whole journey is worth comparing against the regulated taxi range above.

The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking. Fares are not metered freely: they follow the Generalitat's official interurban tariff, because Calpe lies outside Elche, and a fixed airport supplement is added on top. Those published rates are maximums, so the figures here are what the regulated tariff allows over 76 km rather than a quoted price. At this distance the difference between the two tariffs is real money: the night, Sunday and holiday rate, which starts at 21:00, adds close to twenty euros over the daytime one.

Aena lists an ALSA coach connection from the airport to Calpe, boarding at the bus stop on the departures roadway, and names its intermediate stops: Alicante, Alicante train station, Alfaz del Pi and Altea. So the service exists, and it is a stopping service rather than the direct run that serves Benidorm. What we do not have is the part that decides whether you can use it: the fare, the first and last departures, how often it goes and how long it takes. ALSA's own booking engine sits behind a queue system that blocks access, and we found no other primary source publishing this line's timetable. We would rather leave those blank than fill them from somewhere we cannot stand behind, so check with ALSA directly before planning around the coach.
About 76 km by road. Two independent routing engines agree to within 300 metres, and both take the same corridor: the N-338 out of the airport, then the A-70 and the AP-7, and finally the N-332 and CV-746 into the town.
About 55 to 60 minutes in free-flowing traffic. Because most of the distance is motorway, Calpe is only about fifteen minutes further than Benidorm despite being 18 km beyond it.
Between about 108 and 126 EUR for the vehicle, not per person. The lower figure is the ordinary daytime tariff and the higher one the night, Sunday and holiday tariff, and both include the 4.25 EUR airport supplement. These are the regulated maximums for the distance rather than a quote.
Yes. Aena lists an ALSA coach that boards at the departures roadway and calls at Alicante, Alicante train station, Alfaz del Pi and Altea on the way. We have not verified its fare, its departure times or its frequency, so check those with ALSA before relying on it.
Alicante-Elche, at 76 km. Valencia is the closest alternative at about 130 km, which is far enough to matter but not absurd if a flight is much cheaper. Region de Murcia is about 170 km and is not practical.
Benidorm, at 58 km against 76 km. The gap in driving time is smaller than the gap in distance, because the extra stretch to Calpe is motorway.
