Airport transfer
Facts checked Aug 19, 2026Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport (ALC)
Torrevieja
Torrevieja has no airport of its own, so almost every visitor arrives at Alicante-Elche airport and covers the last 44 km by road. There is a non-stop coach: Costa Azul runs it from the departures roadway to Torrevieja bus station, scheduled at an hour, at a flat 7 EUR per person, 23 times a day on weekdays and 18 at weekends. A taxi does the same journey in roughly 45 to 50 minutes of free-flowing driving and takes you to your door, on the Generalitat's official regulated tariff. The coach is much cheaper; everything else comes down to luggage, group size and when you land.

A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Generalitat Valenciana, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

On this route the coach is the clear default, and unusually for an airport transfer it is not a compromise. It runs non-stop, 23 times a day on weekdays, at a flat 7 EUR a head, and the operator schedules it at an hour against 45 to 50 minutes of free-flowing driving, so you give up very little time for a fraction of the cost. Read the prices as they are sold, though: the coach fare is per person while the taxi figure is for the whole vehicle. Four people pay 28 EUR on the coach against a taxi floor of 64, so the coach still wins for a group, but the gap narrows as the party grows. Two things push you to the taxi. The first is where the coach ends: Torrevieja bus station on Calle del Mar, which is not your accommodation, and the town runs a long way along the coast, so with heavy cases or small children you will be paying for another leg anyway. The second is the clock. The last coach leaves at 21:30 on a weekday and 21:00 at the weekend, and the higher night and Sunday taxi tariff begins at 21:00, so a late arrival both misses the cheap option and pays the top of the expensive one. A private transfer is bookable here and linked above; it is the option to compare against the taxi if you want a price fixed before you fly, and its section says what we can and cannot vouch for about the product.
Bus
Seven euros a head against a taxi that starts at 64 for the vehicle, on a service that runs 23 times a day and does not stop on the way. Even four people travelling together pay 28 EUR on the coach against 64 for the taxi.
Taxi
The coach sets down at the bus station on Calle del Mar, not at your accommodation, and Torrevieja spreads a long way along the coast in both directions. With cases and children the taxi takes you the whole way for a price fixed by the regulated tariff.
Taxi
The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking, so there is nothing to arrange before you fly. Fares follow the official regulated tariff rather than a meter, with a fixed airport supplement on top.
Taxi
The last coach leaves at 21:30 on a weekday and 21:00 at weekends, so a flight landing after about nine in the evening has missed it. A taxi needs no timetable and no booking. Expect the higher night, Sunday and holiday tariff, which begins at exactly the hour the coach stops, so a late arrival loses the cheap option and pays the top of the other one.
Not verified: We read the coach timetable for dates up to the end of September, which is as far ahead as the operator sells. Whether the same first and last departures hold in winter is not something we have checked, so confirm with the operator if you are travelling out of season.

A private transfer is booked before you travel, and the driver meets you in arrivals and takes you to your address. There is one for this route and it is linked above. Two things are worth knowing before you book it: the supplier describes its drop-off only as hotels and addresses in the town centre rather than naming Torrevieja, so the destination comes from the product title, and it carries no reviews yet. What we can confirm is that it collects at this airport, because Viator records the arrivals hall as its meeting point. For one or two people travelling light in the daytime the coach is still the better buy; the transfer earns its price with luggage, children or a late arrival.

The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking, which makes it the simplest option if you land without a plan. Fares are not metered freely: they follow the Generalitat's official interurban tariff, because Torrevieja lies outside Elche, and a fixed airport supplement is added. Those published rates are maximums, so the figure in the comparison is what the regulated tariff allows over this distance rather than a quoted price. The night, Sunday and holiday tariff is materially higher than the daytime one, and it starts at 21:00, which is exactly when the coach stops running.

Aena lists this as a non-stop connection between the airport and Torrevieja, run by Costa Azul, which is the trading name of Avanza Movilidad Levante. Coaches leave from the bus stop on the departures roadway rather than from arrivals, so you go up a level after collecting your bags. Every departure is scheduled at an hour to Torrevieja bus station and every one is priced the same: 7 EUR one way per person, with no cheaper or dearer services in the day. On Monday to Friday there are 23 departures, the first at 07:20 and the last at 21:30. Saturdays and Sundays run a reduced timetable of 18 departures, from 08:00 to 21:00. That is a service roughly every half hour to three quarters of an hour through the day, which is frequent enough that most arrivals will not wait long.
Yes. Costa Azul runs it non-stop from the bus stop on the departures roadway to Torrevieja bus station, and Aena lists it among the airport's coach connections. There is no need to travel into Alicante and change.
7 EUR one way per person. Every departure we checked, across five weekdays and three weekend days, was priced the same, so this is a flat fare rather than a lead-in price that some services beat and others do not.
Monday to Friday the first leaves the airport at 07:20 and the last at 21:30, with 23 departures in between. On Saturdays and Sundays the service is reduced to 18 departures, the first at 08:00 and the last at 21:00.
The operator schedules every departure at exactly one hour. Aena describes the journey as about 40 minutes, which is the more optimistic figure; free-flowing driving on this corridor takes 45 to 50 minutes, so the operator's hour is the one to plan around.
Between about 64 and 76 EUR for the vehicle, not per person. The lower figure is the ordinary daytime tariff, the higher one the night, Sunday and holiday tariff, and both include the 4.25 EUR airport supplement. These are the regulated maximums for the distance rather than a quote.
About 44 km by road, on the N-338 and then the N-332. Two independent routing engines put the free-flowing drive at 45 to 50 minutes. Note that this corridor is a single-carriageway trunk road through Guardamar rather than a motorway, so summer traffic tells on it.
Alicante-Elche, at 44 km. Region de Murcia airport is the genuine second option at about 60 km, which is close enough to be worth comparing flight prices against. Valencia is about 230 km away and is not a practical arrival airport for Torrevieja.
