Up the coast road, with Albania in view
The route north from the airport runs along the east coast, and for the last stretch the mainland opposite is Albania, two kilometres away across the strait. It is the only destination on this site where the view from the transfer window is another country. The road is the winding one of the two northern routes, which is why our two routing engines differ most about the time on this journey.
A harbour with a castle above it
Kassiopi is built around a horseshoe harbour with the remains of a Byzantine fortress on the headland above. The village is compact, which makes it easier to drop into than the ribbon villages along the north coast: an address is useful but the harbour is a landmark a driver will know.
The one internal check this island offers
Kassiopi and Acharavi are the same distance from the airport by two entirely different roads, one round the east coast and one over the north of the island, and the operator who sells both charges 99 euros for each. Two journeys our routing independently measured as equal, priced equally by somebody who never saw our measurements. That is not a second supplier, and it is the nearest thing to a check this cluster has.
