Arriving at Cancun with a transfer booked

The airport operator's own transport page lists the ADO shuttle, taxis and a car-hire desk, and says nothing about where private transfer companies meet their passengers. That meeting point is in your booking confirmation, and it differs by terminal and by company. What official advice there is points one way: settle the ride before you get in the car.

Pay before you ride. Canada's travel advice for Mexico says that if you pay by card for a taxi from an airport, it is safer to book and pre-pay inside the terminal or at the designated boarding area, and to avoid paying by card inside the car. A transfer booked and paid before you fly settles that before you land.

Ride only with the company you booked. The same advice warns that thieves work with, or pose as, taxi drivers, and says to use only reputable companies. Your confirmation names the company and where to meet it; go to that point and ride with that company only.

Ride-hailing. Ride-sharing services are available at some Mexican airports. Canada's advice notes that disputes between taxi and ride-sharing drivers occur, and that travellers can be caught up in them. A pre-booked transfer avoids the question.

    About Cancun Airport

    Official name: Cancun International Airport

Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancun, run by ASUR. The ICAO designator is MMUN. It is the busiest airport in Mexico after Mexico City and almost everyone arriving is going somewhere else along the coast, which is why this cluster is transfers and nothing else.

Distances on this page start here. A road named Terminal 3 in OpenStreetMap, sixty-seven metres from that terminal's centroid. Cancun has four passenger terminals and they stand within about a kilometre of each other on the same access road, so which one a flight uses moves nothing on this page: the shortest route here is nineteen kilometres and the longest a hundred and eighteen.
