Map showing where Fuengirola is and the airport that reaches itFuengirolaMalaga (AGP)
Fuengirola is 26 km by road from the airport that reaches it. Dashes join an airport to what it reaches, and are not the road. Outlines from Natural Earth; coordinates from OpenStreetMap.

Fuengirola is 26 km down the coast from Malaga-Costa del Sol and it is the end of the line in the literal sense: the Cercanias C1 railway that calls at the airport's own platform terminates there, and the airport operator publishes the journey at thirty-four minutes. By road it is twenty to thirty minutes with no toll, and the regulated taxi works out at 26 to 41 EUR for the vehicle.

Which transfer should you choose?

This is the route where the train and the car are closest to each other. Our measured drive times run from twenty-two to thirty minutes and the published train time is thirty-four, from a platform at the airport to the middle of Fuengirola with no change. Four to twelve minutes is not much to pay for, so the honest comparison is not speed but what a taxi at 26 to 41 EUR buys over a train ticket whose price we could not verify: a door rather than a station, and a boot.

You are travelling light

Train

Fuengirola is the terminus of the line that calls at the airport, so there is no change and no stop to miss. The published thirty-four minutes is within a few minutes of the drive, and it starts from a platform rather than a kerb.

Taxi

The regulated fare is for the vehicle. At 26 to 41 EUR split three or four ways it is close to what individual train tickets would cost, and it ends at your door rather than at the station.

Taxi

The dearest band raises the rate to 1.38 EUR a kilometre, which on twenty-six kilometres is about fifteen euros more. We have not verified how late the C1 runs, and that alone is a reason to take the rank rather than plan around a timetable we cannot show you.

A private transfer is arranged in advance and the driver meets you in arrivals with your name on a board. With a train from the platform and a taxi at 26 to 41 EUR, the case for one is a boot full of luggage, a group too big for one car, or an address well outside the centre that the station does not help with. Priced at 69.63 to 188 EUR for the vehicle, as recently checked at Viator on 11 September 2026, which is above the regulated taxi at every point in the range. This page showed no transfer until 11 September. The product was always there and was refused because Viator types no airport pickup on it; its start description says the driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a name sign, and that is now evidence in its own right.

The rank is at arrivals and needs no booking. Fare 4 applies Monday to Friday on working days from 06:00 to 22:00 at 1.79 EUR plus 1.00 EUR a kilometre, Fare 9 at 2.50 plus 1.38 in the dearest band. Over twenty-six kilometres neither regulated minimum binds, so this is a metered fare rather than a floor. The range is wider than the distance suggests because our two routing engines differ by 2.4 km on which road to take, and neither of them is a toll road: it is the coast road against the inland dual carriageway. Luggage is 0.56 EUR a piece.

How the fare is set
Regulated fare bands published by the airport operator for journeys originating at the airport, not a meter left to itself. Fare 4 applies Monday to Friday on working days from 06:00 to 22:00: 1.79 EUR flag drop plus 1.00 EUR per kilometre, with a 17.37 EUR minimum. Fare 9, the dearest band, applies on Fridays and the eve of public holidays from 22:00, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays outside daytime hours, and during the August Fair and Easter Week: 2.50 EUR plus 1.38 EUR per kilometre, with a 24.93 EUR minimum. A middle band, Fare 5, covers ordinary nights and weekend daytimes at 2.19 EUR plus 1.21 EUR. Luggage is charged at 0.56 EUR a piece in the boot and is not included below. No airport supplement is charged on journeys leaving the airport; 6.27 EUR is charged on journeys to it.

The Cercanias C1 runs between Malaga Centro Alameda and Fuengirola and calls at the airport's own station. Fuengirola is its terminus, which means no change and no risk of missing a stop, and the airport operator publishes the journey at approximately thirty-four minutes. We have taken that as published rather than turning it into a range. What is not published is the fare: Aena links to a rates page instead of a figure, so we say nothing about the price. Against a measured drive of twenty-two to thirty minutes, the train gives up very little.

Going back: Fuengirola to Malaga Airport

  • The road

26 km, 20–30 min. Measured on the road, so unchanged either way.

  • The taxi

Same Ayuntamiento de Malaga, as published by Aena rates per kilometre, and no supplement is charged on the journey out, so the metered sum is the same either way: €26 on the cheaper band and €41 on the dearer. What we cannot tell you is whether a supplement applies to a journey ending at the terminal, which some authorities charge and this one may. Treat these as the fare before any such charge.

How we worked out the taxi fare

What the regulated fare is made of

A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Ayuntamiento de Malaga, as published by Aena, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a train from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola?

Yes. The Cercanias C1 calls at the airport's own station and Fuengirola is its terminus, so there is no change. The airport operator publishes the journey at approximately thirty-four minutes.

How much is the train?

We do not know. The airport operator publishes the line, its stops and its journey times but links to a rates page rather than printing a fare, so the service is verified and the price is not.

How far is Fuengirola from Malaga Airport?

About 26 km. Our two routing engines returned 24.86 and 27.26 kilometres, a spread of 2.4 km, because they choose different roads. Neither is a toll road.

How much is a taxi from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola?

Between about 26 and 41 EUR for the vehicle, not per person, depending on the fare band. Neither regulated minimum binds at this distance, so it is a metered fare. Luggage is 0.56 EUR a piece.

How do I get from Fuengirola back to the airport?

The C1 runs both ways from the same station. By taxi the distance is unchanged but Malaga charges a 6.27 EUR supplement on journeys to the airport that the outward leg does not carry.
