Which airport, and what the journey costs

Airports for Malaga

Malaga has its own airport about 12 km from the centre, and it is the best-connected airport on this site: a railway station on the airport itself with a twelve-minute run into town, and an express bus whose fare the airport operator actually publishes. Everywhere else on this site we have a verified service and an unverified price. Here we have both.

Every figure here is the same one the route guide shows, read from the same record. Prices say what kind of price they are, and a coach fare charged per person is not comparable with a vehicle price without doing the arithmetic for your own group.

A station on the airport, not a coach stop

The Cercanias C1 runs between Malaga Centro Alameda and Fuengirola and calls at the airport's own platform. The airport operator publishes the transfer times: twelve minutes to the city centre and eight to Maria Zambrano, where the high-speed trains leave from. That is the only airport on this site with a railway station rather than a bus stop.

The one fare we could verify

The airport operator publishes the express line to the city centre at 4 EUR for a single, luggage carried free, payable by card or in cash on board. Across every route on this site that is the only public transport fare a primary source states outright; every other operator is linked to rather than quoted, and we leave those prices blank rather than guess them.

Why the taxi runs on the interurban tariff

The airport stands in Malaga's own municipality, but the regulated fare bands published for journeys starting here are the airport's own schedule rather than a city meter: three bands depending on the hour and the day, each with a minimum fare. Over the twelve or so kilometres into the centre the minimum is close to binding, which is why a short ride from this airport costs more than the distance suggests.
