An hour west, on a road you pay for

The AP-7 is a toll motorway on this stretch. It is the fast road and the toll is not part of the taxi meter, so a fare quoted from the tariff is the fare rather than the total. Our two routing engines agreed on the distance to within fifty metres over eighty-two kilometres, which is unusually close for a journey of that length, and on the time to within two minutes.

The dearest fare in the cluster

At eighty-two kilometres the regulated taxi works out at about 83 EUR in the weekday band and 116 in the dearest, the highest figures anywhere in the Malaga cluster. Neither regulated minimum comes near binding. The gap between the two bands is more than thirty euros, which is the largest swing a landing time causes on any route we cover.

A coach exists, and its fare is the number we lack

The airport operator lists an Estepona-Airport line among the intercity buses, boarding on floor 0 at arrivals, with Estepona as its named end rather than a stop on the way. That is verified. The fare, the frequency and the timetable are not: Aena publishes the express city line's 4 EUR fare directly but links the intercity lines to the operator. On the longest route in this cluster that is the number a solo traveller most needs, and it is the one we do not have.
