Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP)
Estepona

Estepona is 82 km west of Malaga-Costa del Sol, an hour to sixty-five minutes on the AP-7. It is the furthest of the western resorts and the dearest to reach: the regulated taxi works out at 83 to 116 EUR for the vehicle, and the toll is on top of that. Aena lists a coach running from the airport with Estepona as its named destination.

Runs to a fixed timetable, not on demand
Distance decides this one. At eighty-two kilometres a per-vehicle fare split between four people is around twenty-one euros a head at the weekday rate, which is the sort of arithmetic that makes a taxi obvious for a group and painful for one person. The coach exists and is named for Estepona, and its fare is exactly the figure we could not get, which is unsatisfying on the route where it would matter most.
Taxi
The regulated fare is for the vehicle. At 83 EUR in the weekday band, split four ways, it is around twenty-one euros a head for a door-to-door journey of eighty-two kilometres, and the toll divides the same way.
Bus
A single traveller paying 83 EUR or more is buying three empty seats over eighty kilometres. Aena lists an Estepona line from arrivals. We have not verified its fare or its timetable, so ask at the stop; on this route it is the question most worth asking.
Taxi
Fare 9 takes the rate to 1.38 EUR a kilometre, which over eighty-two kilometres is about thirty-three euros more than the weekday band. If the flight time is still movable, this is the route where moving it saves the most money on the site.

A private transfer is arranged in advance and the driver meets you in arrivals. Over eighty kilometres, with the fare band depending on your landing time and a toll on top of the meter, a price agreed at home removes two variables rather than one, which is worth more here than anywhere else in the cluster. We do not show a bookable transfer for this route. The products the search returns are either for somewhere else or sold as one listing covering several destinations at once, where the price a reader would see is not necessarily this journey's. A listing we cannot tie to this route is not inventory, it is a guess with a button on it.

The rank is at arrivals and needs no booking. Fare 4 applies Monday to Friday on working days from 06:00 to 22:00 at 1.79 EUR plus 1.00 EUR a kilometre; Fare 9, the dearest, at 2.50 plus 1.38 on Friday and pre-holiday evenings, weekend and holiday nights and through the August Fair and Easter Week. Over eighty-two kilometres that spread is more than thirty euros. Neither regulated minimum comes near binding. Two things sit outside the figure: luggage at 0.56 EUR a piece, and the AP-7 toll, which is not part of the fare and which we have not verified. Our two engines agreed on the distance to within fifty metres, which over eighty kilometres is unusually close.

Aena lists an Estepona-Airport line among the intercity buses calling at the airport, boarding on floor 0 at arrivals, with Estepona as the line's named end rather than a stop on the way. That is verified from the airport operator's own list. The fare, the departures, the frequency and the journey time are not: Aena publishes the express city line's 4 EUR fare directly but sends you to the operator for the intercity lines. On the longest and dearest route in this cluster the coach fare is the whole decision for a solo traveller, and it is precisely the number we do not have.
82 km, 60–65 min. Measured on the road, so unchanged either way.
Same Ayuntamiento de Malaga, as published by Aena rates per kilometre, and no supplement is charged on the journey out, so the metered sum is the same either way: €83 on the cheaper band and €116 on the dearer. What we cannot tell you is whether a supplement applies to a journey ending at the terminal, which some authorities charge and this one may. Treat these as the fare before any such charge.
A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Ayuntamiento de Malaga, as published by Aena, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

98% of it is distance. The pick-up charge and the airport supplement together are €1.79, however far you are going.

About 82 km. Two independent routing engines returned 82.01 and 81.96 kilometres, fifty metres apart, which over a journey of this length is unusually close agreement.
Between about 83 and 116 EUR for the vehicle, not per person, depending on the fare band. It is the highest regulated fare in the Malaga cluster. Luggage is 0.56 EUR a piece and the AP-7 toll is separate.
Yes, if the driver takes the AP-7, which is the fast road west. It is not part of the meter and we have not verified what it costs, so treat our range as the fare rather than the total.
Yes. The airport operator lists an Estepona-Airport line among the intercity buses, boarding on floor 0 at arrivals, with Estepona as the line's named end. We have not been able to verify its fare or its timetable, because Aena links the intercity lines to the operator rather than publishing them itself.
The same road and distance. The fare is not the same: Malaga charges a 6.27 EUR supplement on journeys to the airport, which the outward leg does not carry.
