Which airport, and what the journey costs

Airports for Cala d'Or

Cala d'Or is 59 km south-east of Palma airport, across the Migjorn on minor roads. The distance is one of the most precisely agreed measurements on this site and the journey time one of the least: two independent routing engines put the drive at 55 and 72 minutes over a distance they agree on to within ten metres.

The distance is settled and the time is not

OSRM returned 59.05 km and Valhalla 59.06, ten metres apart, which is as close as two engines get anywhere on this site. They then differ by seventeen minutes on how long it takes. A gap that size with no distance behind it is a disagreement about speeds on minor roads rather than about the route, and the practical answer is to allow the longer figure, particularly on the way back to a flight.

One island, one airport

Mallorca has a single airport with scheduled flights, so there is no alternative to price. The fare instead depends on when you land: Palma's second tariff band covers weekday nights and the whole of Saturdays, Sundays and official holidays, and on this route it is the only thing that moves the price, because the distance is not in dispute.

What the journey costs

The regulated taxi works out at 78 to 88 EUR for the vehicle, including the 4.65 EUR airport supplement, with parties of five or more paying a further 3.00 or 6.00. No toll anywhere on the island. None of the seven Aerotib lines that call at this airport reaches Cala d'Or. The 515e runs the resort to Palma city rather than to the airport, so a bus journey from the aircraft means at least one change, and we show no fare or timetable for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which airport should I fly into for Cala d'Or?

Palma, at 59 km. It is Mallorca's only airport with scheduled flights.

How long does the transfer take?

Between about 55 and 70 minutes free-flowing. Our two routing engines agree on the distance to ten metres and disagree on the time by seventeen minutes, which is about the minor roads rather than the route. Allow the longer figure.

How much is a taxi?

About 78 to 88 EUR for the vehicle, including the 4.65 EUR airport supplement. On this route the whole width of that range is the tariff band rather than the road.

Is there a coach from the airport?

Not one we can show you. The airport operator names four Aerotib routes and the nearest ends at Campos, some way inland of Cala d'Or.
