Which transfer should you choose?
Malaga publishes three fare bands rather than two, and which one applies depends on the hour and the day rather than simply on night or day. The gap between the cheapest and the dearest is more than twenty euros on this journey, which is worth knowing when a flight time is still movable. It is also the whole of the price argument on this route: the regulated taxi tops out at about 74 EUR and the transfer we can book is around 205, so the choice between them is about what you need rather than what it costs. Puerto Banus is 58 km from the airport against 50 to Marbella, and both engines agree on that to within twenty metres. It is a separate place rather than a district you can walk to from the old town, so give the driver the marina, not the town.

A private transfer is arranged in advance and the driver meets you in arrivals. On this route the price makes the case harder than usual. The one bookable product we can show was recently checked at 205.50 EUR for the vehicle, against a regulated taxi ceiling of 51 to 74 EUR for the same journey. That is three to four times the metered maximum, and no amount of certainty about the fare band closes a gap that size. It is worth it if you need a vehicle for seven, a child seat, or a driver waiting at a named time; it is not worth it merely to avoid the rank. Two arrival transfers are bookable. Aena lists a Marbella-Airport line among the intercity buses calling at the airport, boarding on floor 0 at arrivals, which is where every bus at this airport boards. Marbella is the line's named end rather than a stop on the way somewhere else, and its terminus is the town's bus station. That much is verified from the airport operator's own list. The fare, the first and last departures, how often it runs and how long it takes are not. Aena publishes the express city line's 4 EUR fare directly but sends you to the operator for the intercity lines, so we have a service we can confirm and a price we cannot. We are not going to fill it in.

Not on the way out, which is the opposite of how it works at Alicante. Malaga charges 6.27 EUR on journeys to the airport and nothing on journeys from it, so a return leg costs that much more than the outward one on the same road.
Do I have to pay a toll?
If the driver takes the AP-7, yes, and it is not included in the meter. It is not a detour: with tolls forbidden the same journey measures 55.2 km and about 53 minutes on the free A-7 coast road, so the toll road is both four kilometres shorter and around ten minutes quicker. We have not verified the toll amount and do not print it.
Is there a bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella?
Yes. The airport operator lists a Marbella-Airport line among the intercity buses, boarding on floor 0 at arrivals, ending at the town's bus station. We have not been able to verify its fare or its timetable, because Aena links the intercity lines to the operator rather than publishing them itself.
How do I get from Marbella back to Malaga Airport?
The same road and the same distance, so the driving time is unchanged. The fare is not: Malaga charges a 6.27 EUR supplement on journeys to the airport, which the outward leg does not carry, so budget that on top of the same per-kilometre rate and band.
