Javea is 100 km up the coast from Alicante-Elche, which makes this the longest transfer on this site and the most expensive by taxi: the regulated maximum works out at 139 to 169 EUR for the vehicle over 75 to 80 minutes. Valencia is the one place on this coast where a second airport is worth pricing rather than dismissing, at about 125 km. And Javea is really three places at once, which changes where a driver can actually put you down.

Which transfer should you choose?

Two facts shape this route and they pull the same way. It is long, so the regulated taxi fare is the highest we publish and a per-vehicle price split between four or more people starts to look very different from a single fare. And it is a town in three parts: the old town inland, the port, and the Arenal along the beach, each a couple of kilometres from the others. Where you are staying decides which of them the journey ends in, and it is worth knowing which before you compare anything.

There are four or more of you

Taxi

The regulated fare is for the vehicle. At 139 EUR by day, split four ways, it is about 35 EUR a head for a door-to-door hundred-kilometre journey, and every extra passenger improves that. This is the route where per-vehicle pricing matters most, simply because the distance is greatest.

You are on your own

Bus

A single traveller paying 139 EUR for a taxi is paying for four empty seats. ALSA runs a coach from the airport to Javea and it is the option to ask about at the stop. We have not been able to verify its fare or its timetable, so treat it as a real service we cannot yet describe rather than one to plan around.

You are landing late or on a Sunday

Taxi

The special tariff applies from 21:00 to 07:00 on working days including Saturday, and all day on Sundays and holidays, and over a hundred kilometres it adds around thirty euros rather than a few. If your flight time is still open, this is the route where moving it is worth money.

You are staying in the old town rather than on the beach

Taxi

Javea is three places: the old town inland, the port, and the Arenal along the beach. Our two routing engines agree to within 40 metres on the drive to the Arenal and differ by about three kilometres on the approaches to the other two, which is a property of the town rather than a routing error. Tell the driver which one you want; they are not the same address.

A private transfer is arranged in advance and the driver meets you in arrivals, and on the longest route here that certainty is worth more than anywhere else on this site: an hour and a quarter with children or a lot of luggage is not the journey to improvise. We do not currently show a bookable transfer for Javea. Thirty-eight products were assessed and every one was rejected. The only one naming Javea sells the journey from Alicante city rather than from the airport, which is a different journey at a different price, and we would rather show nothing than a product we cannot stand behind.

The rank is on the arrivals roadway and needs no booking. Javea is outside Elche, so the fare follows the Generalitat's official interurban tariff with a fixed airport supplement on top, not an open meter. Working the published maximums over the measured distances gives about 139 EUR by day and about 169 EUR at night, on Sundays and on holidays. That is the highest regulated fare on this site and it is a ceiling rather than a quote: the published rates are maximums, so a meter can read lower. Over a hundred kilometres the night and Sunday tariff is a real penalty rather than a rounding difference, which is worth planning a landing time around if you can.

Official regulated tariff rather than a meter-free negotiated price. Javea is outside Elche, so the Generalitat's interurban schedule applies: 1.65 EUR pick-up plus 1.34 EUR per km on the ordinary tariff, and 2.25 EUR plus 1.55 EUR per km on the special tariff, which covers 21:00 to 07:00 on working days including Saturday, and all day on Sundays and holidays. The airport supplement is added on top. Published amounts are maximums.

Aena lists an ALSA coach as Airport-Javea, boarding at the bus stop on the departures roadway. Unlike Altea, which is a stop on a coach to somewhere else, Javea is this line's named destination. That the service exists, who runs it, where it boards and where it goes are verified from the airport operator's own list. Its fare, its first and last departures, how often it runs and how long it takes are not, because ALSA's booking engine sits behind a queue that blocks access and no primary source publishing this line's timetable was found. We are not going to guess at any of them. On a hundred-kilometre journey the difference between a coach fare and a 139 EUR taxi is the whole decision for anyone travelling alone, which is exactly why we would rather leave it blank than fill it in.

Going back: Javea to Alicante Airport

  • The road

100 km, 75–80 min. Measured on the road, so unchanged either way.

  • The taxi

Same Generalitat Valenciana rates per kilometre. What we cannot carry over is the €4.25 airport supplement, which our figure records for a journey that starts at the terminal; nothing we hold says how it is treated on one that ends there. Without it: €135 by day, €165 at night and on Sundays. A floor, not an answer.

How we worked out the taxi fare

What the regulated fare is made of

A taxi from this airport does not run on a meter. The fare follows a schedule published by the Generalitat Valenciana, so it can be worked out in advance rather than quoted. These are the maximums that schedule allows over the measured distance, not a price anyone has offered you.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Javea from Alicante Airport?

About 100 km, and it is the longest route this site covers. Two independent routing engines were run to three aiming points, the old town, the port and the Platja de l'Arenal. They agree to within 40 metres at the Arenal and differ by around three kilometres on the approaches to the other two, so 100 km is the figure both support.

How much is a taxi from Alicante Airport to Javea?

Between about 139 and 169 EUR for the vehicle, not per person. That is the maximum the Generalitat's official interurban tariff allows over the measured distance, including the 4.25 EUR airport supplement, with the upper figure applying at night, on Sundays and on holidays. The published rates are maximums, so a meter can read lower.

Is there a bus from Alicante Airport to Javea?

Yes. The airport operator lists an ALSA coach as Airport-Javea, boarding on the departures roadway, with Javea as the line's named destination rather than an intermediate stop. We have not been able to verify its fare or its timetable, because ALSA's booking engine blocks access and no primary source publishing this line's schedule was found.

Should I fly into Valencia instead?

It is the one route on this site where the question is worth asking. Valencia is about 125 km from Javea against 100 from Alicante, which is roughly half an hour more driving rather than the two extra hours the alternatives cost elsewhere on this coast. If the fare difference is meaningful, price both.

Which part of Javea should I give the driver?

Javea is three settlements a couple of kilometres apart: the old town inland, the port, and the Arenal along the beach. They are not interchangeable and the drive to each is measurably different, so the address matters more here than the town name.

How do I get from Javea back to Alicante Airport?

The same road and the same distance, so the driving time is unchanged. The taxi tariff per kilometre is identical either way, but the airport supplement in our figure is recorded for a journey that starts at the terminal and we cannot say how it is treated on one that ends there, so the return fare is the same sum minus a component we will not vouch for. Allow more than you would elsewhere: it is over an hour before you reach the terminal.
