The drive never enters Heraklion
The airport is on the eastern edge of the city, so the expressway east begins almost at the terminal and the journey bypasses Heraklion entirely. That is not true of the westward routes from here, and it is why this is the quickest resort transfer on the island's north coast.

A search for "Hersonissos" in OpenStreetMap returns a bus stop of that name and no settlement. The town is recorded as Limenas Chersonisou, the port of Chersonisos, which is why this site stores both spellings and why a transfer operator may list either.
